A letter written by John Brown "Grub" Hudson in 1890, verifying that Price Summers (father of two of his daughters-in-law), contracted rheumatism during his military service (a written transcription follows): June the 11, 90 State of Missouri i Will State that i Cant remember Exackly the Month But hit Was About the last of 1862 When i heard the claiment complaining of rheumatism in his hips and Back Which i Belive Was contracked While in the line of Duty far i Never heard the claiment Complainen Before And I Will State that When We Was discharge he Didant look like he could Do More than one half of a Dayes Werke to Save his life and i Dont Bellive to Do his Self Justice he is not Able to Do Eny now And I have heard him complaining at times Whyle in the Servies and at times Since the Servies.
